Audiovisual Integration of 4 new Operating Rooms at CMCiB

The Center for Comparative Medicine and Bioimaging of Catalonia (CMCiB) is a center dedicated to research and continuing education in the field of medicine, promoted by the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). It is a unique infrastructure in Spain and is unique in Europe, designed to be a reference in comparative medicine, bioimaging, and computational modeling, promoting alternative methods of research.

Located in the highest part of Can Ruti, in Badalona, the center represents an added value for the campus and for research in Catalonia, translational research, and the continuing education of health professionals, as it has a high potential for teaching. The facilities include state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology, as well as audio-visually integrated experimental operating rooms.

Ditec Medical has installed the ORisTIC system, a digital OR integration solution based on state-of-the-art technology such as Barco’s powerful fiber-optic-based Nexxis. A web application platform and touch panel offer the user a centralized control of the audiovisual equipment of the operating room and access to different system functionalities in a very intuitive and simple way. The platform, thanks to the audio and video distribution system, allows the recording of live content and streaming and videoconferencing service. There is also the option of recording all the medical processes and, in the future, being able to use them for new studies or training.

The CMCiB training area includes, in addition to the operating rooms, an auditorium with a capacity for up to 50 people with audiovisual equipment connected directly to the operating room space, prepared for videoconferencing. Furthermore, for training purposes, the room also has a videoconference connection with the operating rooms of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.
