The IDEAL Digital Arts Center in Barcelona has become one of the main spaces where art can be experienced in a completely new way. With a focus on immersive experiences, the center not only presents art exhibitions, but also allows visitors to become part of them, thanks to the integration of the latest audiovisual technologies.

SUCCESS CASES

Ditec, pioneers in audiovisual innovation for IDEAL

Ditec Comunicaciones has been in charge of the transformation of the former IDEAL cinema into a Digital Arts Center, installing an advanced audiovisual system that turns the space into a multi-sensory environment of projections, surround sound and interactive technology.

What is an immersive experience?

Immersive experiences are a revolutionary way to interact with art and technology. Instead of simply viewing an artwork from a distance, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the content. This is achieved using a combination of large-format audiovisual projections, immersive sound and advanced technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality and holography.

An immersive experience not only comes through sight and sound, but envelops the viewer in such a way that he or she seems to be part of the work itself. In the case of IDEAL, projections cover walls and floors, creating immersive environments that transport the visitor to other worlds or eras. The viewer is not just an observer, but experiences the sensations and atmospheres that are projected, generating a unique emotional connection.

IDEAL: A space dedicated to digital arts

The IDEAL occupies almost 2,000 square meters, with a main room of 1,500 meters dedicated to immersive exhibitions. 27 projectors Epson EB-PU1007 have been installed in this space, projecting on the four walls and the floor, achieving a 360-degree immersive experience. In addition, the center has an 8.4.1.1 surround sound system, with Tannoy speakers and Lab Gruppen amplifiers, designed to complete the sensory immersion, synchronizing the projection with three-dimensional sound quality.

To turn the IDEAL into a benchmark immersive space, Ditec Comunicaciones carried out a complete audiovisual refurbishment, installing a technological infrastructure that takes the artistic experience to new levels. The content is controlled by advanced servers such as SMODE and Brightsign HD224, which ensure perfect and synchronized reproduction of the projections and audio. This allows for fluid, dynamic and deeply immersive exhibitions.

The sound system has been improved to manage the combined signal, both through the Dante network and through analog audio, ensuring an immersive and high-fidelity sound experience thanks to the remodeling of the audio system with the QSC Core 110f v2 processor.

The heart of the centre’s audiovisual management is an Extron centralized control system that includes an IPCP Pro 350 processor, a TLP Pro 1025M screen and a virtual system. This system allows for efficient management and selection of video and audio content, ensuring smooth operation.

Finally, to ensure correct functioning and an orderly installation, a complete overhaul of the audiovisual cabling was carried out, as well as the installation of a new rack that centralizes and organizes all the technical equipment.

A benchmark in international digital art

Following the example of world-renowned centres such as the Ateliers des Lumières in Paris and the Mori Building Digital Art Museum in Japan, the IDEAL is positioned as a benchmark for digital arts in Europe. Its ability to generate high-quality immersive experiences has consolidated Barcelona’s position as a global destination for art and technology lovers

Thanks to the work of Ditec Comunicaciones, IDEAL has cutting-edge technological equipment that allows for the creation of large-format exhibitions and unprecedented interaction between the public and the works. This center has reinvented the way we understand art, bringing it closer to the audience in a more direct, emotional and sensory way.
