Rental of LED Screens

At Ditec Comunicaciones, we have been working with LED technology for years, holding events where both indoor and outdoor screens are required. In our case, when carrying out corporate events, product presentations, conventions, or any type of fair or stand, we always work with more definition to be able to visualize the contents that usually have much more detail, such as power points, logos, or camera direct.

How is an LED screen composed?

The screens are assembled from square blocks (tiles), typically 0.5 x 0.5 m (although there are other sizes), that are integrated through an anchoring system, which allows them to be attached and form a flat and firm projection surface without cracks and with the ability to achieve a uniform image through the configuration of its integrated electronics.

How big can the screen be?

Being able to assemble it into blocks allows us to create an irregular projection surface in shape and size, with various geometries (even curves), depending on the location of the block anchoring elements and the environment as a reference. In other words, they will typically have rectangular or square shapes, but they can be made with other shapes.

Considering that the video format currently used is a 16:9 aspect ratio, rental LED screen assemblies are normally carried out with sizes that can vary from 2 to 18 meters or more than broad, always taking into account the proportion of the format when determining the height of the said screen.

What definition quality does an LED screen have?

Currently, our screens allow us to display content in HD (High Definition) and Full HD. However, in the case of LED screens, there is an important factor to take into account, which is the so-called Pitch.

This parameter accounts for the distance between each LED light point present in each block (tile), being the interactive conjunction of all the light points, which form the entire displayed video image; that is to say that all the points of light form the total image, and its quality of definition is determined by the distance between point to point (Pitch). So much so that depending on the needs of the environment (indoor or outdoor) and the projection distances, we can offer 1.9, 2.9, or 3.9 mm pitch screens for indoor use, for example.

The definition parameters correspond to a variable value determined by the screen size’s proportionality. Since each block (tile) has 128×128 pixels, the resolution results from the calculation are directly proportional to the desired screen size.

Considering that the video format currently used is a 16:9 aspect ratio, rental LED screen assemblies are normally carried out with sizes that can vary from 2 to 18 meters or more than broad, always taking into account the proportion of the format when determining the height of the said screen.

Where and how can it be installed?

There are endless technical possibilities in this regard, but we will reduce them to the most common ones. The union of blocks that make up the screen can rest on a flat and firm surface, capable of supporting the weight of a structure of these characteristics.

In our particular case, we recommend doing it on a metal structure platform resting on the ground, providing insulation and ensuring its stability. This is later reinforced by metallic structures so that it does not give in forwards or backward. As we make the screen taller, it is necessary to make structures like a chair or ladder to guarantee the correct support.

Another common installation possibility is using special anchors, suspending the screen from the ceiling or a metal truss structure so that the screen hangs (flying in the air) if required by the project’s needs. Normally it can be done in auditoriums or fairs where the anchor points of the truss structure (rigging points) already exist.

Advantages and aspects to consider:

Our LED screens can display different types of shapes and sizes thanks to its variable modular assembly capacity. This gives it unique versatility when considering it as a scenographic alternative. In some cases, we can save the scenography if we put a screen wide enough (eye with aspect ratio).

It also provides optimal use of space since it does not need as much distance behind as the projection so that more attendees can fit in smaller spaces. In addition, its luminosity and size allow a view in excellent conditions from considerable distances.

The space and the environment are two key conditions when considering the installation of the screen since its dimensions could determine that the decision to install this type of screen may not be appropriate if the projection distance is so short that it makes it difficult to view the video due to excessive proximity of the viewer to the screen itself. In addition, the presence of a ceiling that is too low could be a negative factor when choosing a rental option for LED screens.

Another factor to consider is the high degree of light emitted by the screen in full operation. The spectacularity that this generates adds value to the overall setting and forces us to consider lighting needs, especially if the viewer’s proximity to the screen is taken into account.
