What is an immersive experience?

When we talk about an immersive experience, we are referring to creating an environment where viewers can receive a multitude of stimuli and sensations through the different senses.

What strikes us first is usually sound and visual stimuli, but in an immersive experience, the senses of smell, touch and even taste also interact. This makes this type of experience capable of transporting the public to a situation of perception and stimulation that is higher than usual, compared to other types of events and spaces.

An immersive experience is an experience where the message, the concept and the environment are fundamental. In an experience of these characteristics, art, science and technology are blended together, allowing you to escape from a normal state to a state where mentally, physically and sensorially the senses are connected.

Once we have explained what an immersive experience consists of, we will explain where they can be used.

In which contexts can an immersive experience be realised?

As we have said before, an immersive experience stands out for the mix of technology, science and art. We want to give some advice on where it is appropriate to make an immersive experience to get the most out of it.

– In events: the immersive experience is often used in face-to-face events. The main objective of this practice is to get the user to be fascinated so that, in this way, the event is memorable.

– For the presentation of products or services: through the projection of an immersive experience, the user will be able to see graphically and visually how a certain product or service works, they will be able to better understand the characteristics and advantages, and it will also position the brand in a privileged place in the user’s mind. That is why big brands use it to launch new product lines or to present new collections.

– In the classroom: immersive learning is a way for students to replicate scenes that occur in the real world to enhance learning experiences. Through this methodology, students can simulate situations that in real life would be difficult to replicate or reproduce. It can be a powerful pedagogical tool because students acquire information better after experiencing what they are learning.

How does an immersive experience work?

By means of a master player, it allows to control and synchronise very quickly, specifically to the thousandth of a second and with total accuracy, all the signals that the different players project the video. There is also a system in multi-screen format that can take advantage of the infrastructure already equipped, being able to carry out events in person and live.

Having said this, we now come to the subject of sound, a very important factor as it is what makes each of the users who participate in the experience enjoy it and become immersed in it. In the case of the immersive spaces created, we have an audio system that is distributed throughout the room, specifically there is a set of subwoofers installed, whose function is to enhance the sounds and the lower frequencies. By means of the digital process called DSP, the sound in the room can reach more than 5,000 watts.
As for the automated management of the room, both the video and the sound are subject to an advanced control system that allows for individualised management of each piece of equipment. Basically, we are talking about the individualised management of the projectors.

In short, creating immersive experiences is an innovative way to present projects, products, services or to better sell your brand. It is a useful and totally innovative tool. Many companies are already using immersive experiences to improve brand perception among their audience.
