Mediterranean Intercultural Dialogue
On September 30th, the conference entitled “Mediterranean Intercultural Dialogue” was held at the Palau de Pedralbes, promoted by the Diplocat, the Council of Public Diplomacy of Catalonia, where a series of presentations open to the public and closed-door meetings were held in the afternoon.
In view of the impossibility of carrying out an event entirely in person, a hybrid model was chosen, where several of the speakers attended in person at the Palau de Pedralbes, and debated online with speakers located in Casablanca (Morocco), Tunisia (Tunisia), Beirut (Lebanon) and Paris (France), so the interpretation from Catalan and Spanish was required to French online, and the rest of users / attendees to the conference did it by streaming, in which they could select the language they wanted to listen live and simultaneously.
Also due to the measures of the Covid-19, instead of installing the translation booths in the Pedralbes Palace itself, it was decided to use the Ditec’s HUB of interpreters in Barcelona with 4 booths, so that both the interpreters and the technicians attended from the HUB to interpret and monitor what was happening live from the Palau.
It was a great advantage for the interpreters to be able to work remotely and in good conditions, since there was a space with all the security measures against the Covid-19 as well as technical measures, since they work from soundproofed interpreter booths, specialized technicians on their side, great audio and video quality, etc.
